Cylensee for health care (Myopia and AMD treatments)

Our research and product developments are carried out in close collaboration with the Vision Institute at UMPC (Pittsburgh).

Cylensee Red Light (RL) contact lenses:

Myopia is a leading cause of permanent blindness worldwide. Cylensee proposes a medical device for mitochondrial stimulation by red light to stop eyeball elongation at early stage (in children). The device consists in two contact lenses embedding 670nm LEDs (a,b) and an associated eyewear(c). This eye wear allows to control the lighting contact lens lighting parameters remotely (through a NXP link) as shown in the picture and the video.

Competitive advantages of Cylensee RL therapy contact lens:

  • Large intra-ocular fan-in (67° half-angle).
  • Precise control of lighting uniformity.
  • Full mobility no need for assistance.
  • Keep central vision free.
  • Blink and eye motions free.

A more advanced version under development will encapsulate light sources (LEDs or lasers) and an intra-ocular beam shaping projection optics, to stimulate the retina and train AMD patients how to make the best use of their peripheral vision (see below).
